A comfy stay at Citizen M Rotterdam

A comfy stay at Citizen M Rotterdam

After my night walk across the Erasmus bridge and to see the De Rotterdam building, I came back to the hotel and took a spot in the lounge area where comfortable chairs invite you to sit down, join other guests for a chat or to read a book. When you are tired of sightseeing, there is also a comfortable bed waiting for you to get some sleep, or to relax in while you watch a movie. citizenM is the hotel where you feel home after a long day of exploring the city.

Does check-in really take just one minute?

Yes, it does! Check-in at the hotel is self-service, so whenever you arrive, you sit yourself in front of a computer, enter your name, choose a room (my insider tip: go for one on the highest floor possible) and create one or more keys for your room. For those who need some help, there is always a staff member available to give you a hand.

Tiny but very comfy rooms

The small but well-equipped rooms offer everything you need: a huge, soft white bed, a great view, and a luxurious rain shower.

Having a television in your hotel room never made sense to me. When I’m staying in a hotel, most of the time I’m not in my home country, so a television only offering channels in local languages that I don’t understand. However, at citizenM theirs makes sense! Not only are you offered plenty of international channels, you can also choose from a big range of movies, for free!

One little note I have to make, as the room is petite and the bathroom is not completely soundproof, you do share your bathroom experience somewhat with your room buddy… To block out any sound, turn on some music or turn the shower on and you will have the privacy you need.

A hefty breakfast spread

The rooms may be small, but the breakfast is big. You can choose from sweet to savoury, from healthy options to comfort food. I was happy to finally find some of my beloved sour white yoghurt (without added sugar), granola and fresh fruit. I do miss these kind of breakfasts when I’m in Italy! And having become a coffee snob after living in Turin, the cappuccino definitely met my Italian standards. Thanks to citizenM, I could start my second day in Rotterdam with a happy belly.
